On Monday the 16th of October, Daphne Caruana Galizia, a well-known and respected Maltese journalist, lost her life in what was undoubtedly a targeted attack.

Daphne Caruana Galizia’s courageous work as an investigative journalist must be remembered. Without preempting the investigations, it appears today that she was assassinated because she was exercising her right to freely express her opinion and for doing her job as a journalist.

In order to honour her memory, a silent vigil will be organised in front of the International Press Centre (Residence Palace) on Wednesday 18th of October from 18:00. Let us hush our own voices in tribute to those that no amount of violence will ever succeed in silencing.

Our thoughts go out to Daphne Caruana Galizia’s family at this time.

Notes to editors:
•    The silent gathering will take place at 155 Rue de la Loi – 1000 Brussels in front of the International Press Center from 18:00 until 20:00
•    The organisers invite attendees to bring and light a candle in memory of Daphne Caruana Galizia
•    This event is organised by friends of family members
