Journalists who wish to attend election days at the European Parliament must submit an accreditation request online. Special accreditation will not only cover the election evening of 26 May but also the whole weekend of 23-27 May inclusive.

All journalists must apply for accreditation online, including inter-institutional badge holders.

To get accreditation in advance, you must submit a request online from now and until 13 May, with the following documents:

• an ID sized photo, i.e. portrait, lightweight format electronic format;

• official ID number and expiration date (ID card, passport or driving license);
• a copy of your press card or a letter from your Editor-in-Chief describing your tasks as a journalist in the European Parliament.

To avoid the queues on Sunday 26 May, ID badges can be collected from 20 May at the Parliament’s press accreditation office in Brussels, Paul-Henri Spaak building, Rue Wiertz.

Information on online accreditation

Accreditation requests for the elections should be submitted through our online registration website. It is available in three languages: English, French, and German.

This new tool, which will continue being used after the elections, will make the procedure faster, easier and protect personal data more robustly. Once a journalist is registered in the system, they will no longer need to re-enter their details when they apply for accreditation in the future. They will be able to update their data and upload required documents for accreditation themselves, as well as close the account if they so wish.

For now, only requests for short-term accreditation can be introduced online.

The European Parliament grants media accreditation to journalists, film crews and photographers who fulfil the conditions as set out in the rules.
